I am falling in love with a girl that for many reasons, I can't have. She is the totle oppisite of me and my parents don't approve of her for good reasons. But, I can't seem to get her off of my mind. I love hanging out with her but I can't even do that anymore. She is a great person but she has had a lot problems when it comes to drugs, etc. I am nothing like her and I wish I could get her off of my mind. I have NEVER felt this strongly about ANYONE and I don't know why I feel for her so much. Can someone give me some advice on how to get over her? Because I know that we can NEVER EVER be. Thanks for any and all help that you can give!

Actually I think Guy is right on here. Anything spiritual can help a person overcome even the toughest obstacles in life. People coping with addiction need to find something (healthier and rewarding) to get into. Often (not always) when people use drugs they are bored and the habit is created as a result of that boredom. This girl you like can change her life around -- she just has to want to do it. She needs a friend right now and she needs encouragement. Sadly most people who check into rehab DO go back to the drug, but if she really wants to stop, if she really wants to clean up -- she can do it. Like I said, she needs to find something spirtually fulfilling in her life. Give her the Bible, or suggest to her a book written by the Dalai Lama, "Live Life in a Better Way." I think Gregg also mentions this book on this site.

Joe,
Well, for a start, people who have problems of that nature can be VERY difficult to get through to but since you feel a lot for this girl you should try to get her some help. Even if it's just pointing her in the right direction, it can do no harm...
As for getting her out of your head - it'll take time. Lots of time. It always does. But after a while, when you look at why a relationship could never work you begin to accept it & move on. Who knows? If she's able to find a better path in life, you might one day be able to get together. Never say never.
Things will get easier - time's all you need...

Getting over her without doing anything is not the only solution. Have u tried and talk to her about your feelings. Have u ever talk to her about her drugs like trying to convince that they are not good for her. You say you like this girl the time has come for u to do something instead running away. Take her to church, try and talk to her about drugs like how dangerous they are. Or even get her to join things like volunteer groups for drug abuse. Try and help maybe she don't say it but she might need help, that's where u come in.
Just my 2 cents

(Here come the flame comments from others lol) Why not just invite her to church. I set a good Christianly example for my friend who was on drugs, and i was able to get him to stop. Best of Luck with that.
