The start of this song, kind of is telling...
While I agree with Sam, that this is pretty awesome... it seems that your boyfriend feels a lot of pressure to be a certain way with you or for you.
He seems to percieve that you don't think he has any faults or problems and maybe that is the way he has always come across to you, however it seems that he wants you to know he is with fault and wants you to accept that in him.
I think it's very sweet that he did this for you... and I guess I would tell you to let him know that it is OKAY for him to be himself with you, that you love in regardless.
