I started my birth control pills on the first day of my period, the next day i woke up and all i had was a brownish smear on my pad and by the next day my period was completely gone. I was wondering if this means that i should be using a second method of birth control for a week in addition to my pill to prevent pregnancy or if that was normal for someone who started the pill for the first time? Thank you

LOL Sam!!!
Sunshine,
To begin with, it is most commonly recommended that you start taking birth control pills on the first Sunday after your last menstral cycle... and the person who prescribed your birth control pill also should have told you that you need to be using a second form of birth control for the first MONTH you begin taking the pill to prevent pregnancy.
Please keep in mind as well Sunshine that the pill DOES NOT prevent STD's... so unless you're in a committed relationship, I would still recommend using condoms in addition to the pill.
Best thing to do here if you are feeling uncertian of what to expect or have any other questions regarding taking the pill correctly is to return to your doctors office and get more information.
Good Luck

*cough*, um...
I don't think this belongs in loveisgreat.com (more so webMD)-- but since I'm no doctor and I can't tell you accurately what's normal and what isn't -- my advice is for you to see a doctor or hell, ask Enigma, she's an RN -- to help you with any concerns concerning your prescription contraceptive pills.
