Mono is often called the "Kissing disease" however Mono can be passed from person to person from drinking from a glass or cup of an infected person, coughing, sneezing.
Mono is in the saliva. It isn't highly contagious, however if you know someone who has Mono you can reduce your risk of getting it by not sharing drinks, not kissing, washing your hands, and making sure that the other person (jeez if not just for polite reasons) doesn't cough or sneeze on you.
It is common and generally the incubation period lasts for 2 to 3 weeks. Sypmtoms can include sore throat, fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, and fever. It may take up to 3 months to feel completley over it.
If you think you've been exposed to Mono see your doctor. Antibiotics is not a treatment for Mono, typically bed rest and a lot of liquids is what is recommended.
