Hello, Enigma. I have a real oddball question to ask you, but since you're an R.N., I feel compelled to ask anyway. How long does it take for a woman to get pregnant when she stops taking the pill?
Just wondering!
Your friend,
Sam

Hey Sam;)
Once birth control pills have been stopped fertility can return as early as the next cycle.
Of course birth control pills are not 100% effective in preventing pregnancy so if pregnancy isn't wanted regardless if the pill is being taken or has been discontinued all together, the best plan is to use condoms as a back up method.

i'm not a woman, but wanna throw my 2 cents in. I do believe it is possible within 48 hours of stopping. the pill is just a chemical you take to confuse or trick your body into thinking it's already pregnant. Soon as that chemical isn't in your system then your body adjusts and releases eggs.. I think it takes 2 days for you to be cleared of it..

I'm not her, but I'm pretty sure it is said that it is in the month to 2 month range. However, I am by no means a professional, but I've heard that somewhere, so I'll throw it out there. We'll see what Enigma has to say :)
