First off, I'm only 16, but I need more than a teenage input on this situation.
Well, I recently met a guy. We'll call him Jake. Now, I've had a crush on "Jake" for a while now, but right now we're just friends. Well, when we first met, he asked me something that concerned me. He asked if I did dope (the slang term for heroine).
I'm concerned that he may be doing hard drugs like that. I want to find out, but I don't want to make him feel cornered. Plus, I haven't known him for that long (only about a month or so, and we've never hung out). I don't know if it's really my place, but I feel like I have to do something.
How do I get him to tell me if he does do that, and if he does how can I get him to get help?
I'm really scared that something might happen to him, but I don't want to go to the police, or a teacher or anything, because I don't want him to get in trouble- esspecially if he isn't doing it.
Please help me figure out how I can find out if he is a user and get him help.

Straight edge is the way to go if you're into the punk rock scene. Honestly, no offense -- but you're best off staying away from people who use such drugs.
Ask him bluntly if he does heroin. Why not, he asked you if you did it. Just say, "Remember when you asked me if I did dope? Well I'm wondering why you would ask me such a question. Do you?" Also, if you see track marks on his arms, that is a sign that he is shooting up.
Heroin is the most addictive drug. Addicts hooked on heroin feel intense pain when they have their "fix" and don't get high. Not to mention that IV drug users are statistically one of the main groups for contracting and spreading HIV.
As far as getting him to stop, tell him the facts. Being a junkie is only a life of pure hell, poverty, disease, and death. Nonetheless, it is he that has to make the decision to stop. All you can do is to try to talk him out of doing it by presenting the facts of drug addiction.
