can a person who used to be a really caring person but got taken advantage of all the time build up walls to not let anyone in anymore...in a sense not care anymore about anyone? or do they still care deep inside but just not show it?

<--prime example.. I was cheated on, taken advantage of, and thrown away.. Yes i've built up walls, and well not caring isn't what i'd use just more cautious about what I say or do towards someone I love.. Kinda like when you're hurt soo badly a wall is put up 100feet tall around your heart.. And only time and trust can take the wall down one brick at a time..
