Title:
trying to improve chances of getting back together
By: tromag
Okay, here is my situation. I was in a relationship with a wonderful person but through my bad decisions (i.e. drug use, lying and financial troubles) I made the relationship unpleasant. About a year and a half ago I decided to break up with her. We have still maintained communication (but she is still quite bitter about what happened and understandably so) and since then I have stopped using drugs, I have realized that there is no use in lying about things, no matter how small it is, and I am getting ready to start a new job that will make it easier for me to get into another job that I plan to make a career and hopefully retire from.
The 28th of December is when we first met and I would like to know if it would be a good idea to tell her that I still love her and want us to be together. To tell her the things that I have realized and that I believe that she wouldn't regret that she decided to give a relationship with me another chance.

It is so commendable to hear someone who learns from their mistakes. I agree with Sam. I think it is a little too soon. You should show her with your actions first. If you really are a changed person and it is meant to be then it will work. Congrats on being clean!

kudos to you on being drug free, i'm glad to hear you're turning a new leaf. my opinion is to wait a bit more... show her through your actions and by maintaining that job that you have changed and are indeed drug free and responsible. then perhaps, she may see you in a different light... but there are no guarantees. trust is earned, and once it's broken, it's hard to get back. keep doing what you're doing, and then talk to her when the time feels right.
