i am sooo confused! does he like me? or not?

I've known this guy (John M.) for like 3 years, but never actually knew him (or had any classes with him) until this year (8th grade) .. And even since the begining of the year we have acted as though we hate eachother. But recently I have heard a few rumors from trustworthy people, saying that he really likes me, and that he just doesn't know what to do because i'm not like the girls he's gone out with before. He's also an really unusually sweet guy. He can be a jerk, but he has a wonderful singing cioce, he's smart with out being a geek and he understands people. Not to mention goodlooking. And i'm really average.. I've only ever had 2 boyfriends, because i only have wanted to be in serious relationship, (not to forget i'm not that pretty, but i'm not awful) . So why should he like me? But it's really confusing to me, because he has been giving a few signals that he likes me yet, he he's always acting as though he thinks i'm weird? Is that just the way guys show that they like you? Or what? I am very confused. can anyone help me???

Hey, no problem!
I would never judge ANYONE, full stop - so I'm not about to hassle you over being 14 & wanting someone to care about... it's normal & quite healthy. I guess people see ** 14 + having interest in a guy = going too far then doing something you may regret later **... :-S
But you, to me, sound mature, with a level head & (trust me, I know) it can be really frustrating when people only look at your age & suppose you must be a particular type of person!!
Take things slowly, that'll help to prevent you from getting hurt. But, most all - have more confidence in yourself! Any guy lucky enough to be with you at the end of the day will treat you with respect if you enter the relationship expecting it... get what I'm saying?
Set your standards, regarding guys, 'n stick to 'em!
hey thanx. I mean i'm 14, and i'm an only child, and i've always been mature for my age. Personally i hate it when people goof off at my age and just hang and call it boyfriend and girlfriend, i just want someone to care about.
but anyways. i don't actually really like, like him. But there have been things going around, about how he supposedly likes me. and it's all very confusing, because i don't know wether to trust some people, because i always end up getting hurt... well i thankyou for your advice.!!!

Hey umm what's wrong with being a dork/geek?? i never get that...anyways 8th grade hmmm. i dont remember what this whole thing was about,but even if it is 8th grade i think relationships are very important for this age! even if older people dont think they are.....i've learned a lot about relatioships im a freshman (blah it sucks) like i've learned soo much. so just take risks it doesnt matter....as long as ure not doing anything overboard like sex and stuff...take a risk on the "good" things" cause ure a kid and i wish i had taken those risks in 8th!! i mean im still kind of a wussy but im almost there hah/.does that many anysence? your thing up there reminds me of me and my realtionship with my boyfriend haha except im the guy u like and he's u...but me and him are both dorkish in a way...haha funny and if he thinks ure weird who cares....okay im done <3byews

But again you are in 8th grade and well that to me seems very young to want a serious relationship. I mean you should be just a kid right now, not thinking of situations like this..
But... I'm not to say you can't be in love at this age and that dating him is wrong so well I'd say go for it. Just ask him out somewhere. a movie, or I dunno lunch. Food is good, lol, and just talk, flirt a lil and just get to know him. Eventually the truth will reveal itself.. goodluck. ~kev

Okay, bare with me since I'm not acquainted with the "grading system" that US schools have but I'm guessing that you're pretty young... so, first thing, going solely on the things that apparently trustworthy people say maybe isn't the best way to find out how he feels about you...
I would say though that you should have a higher opinion of yourself. Looks are waaaaay down on the list when it comes to having a meaningful relationship, sure there has to be an attraction but personality & a caring heart are all that counts. End of.
So regardless of whether you're "average", "not awful" or have 6 heads it's the person you are than matters & it's that which enables you to attract members of the opposite sex ;-)
You need to go about this on your own. Have adult conversations with him, no messing about - try to flirt a little, find out more about who he is - then see how he reacts to all of this.
No matter how dorkish he acts normally, if he really does like you like these people say he does, he'll begin to change his behaviour. If he doesn't, you have your answer.
