I have a friend that is home from iraq. He was there for a year and I have kept in touch with him all that time. I had talked and spoke with him before he left although we did not get to go out. Well he is home and I have spoken with him once. He sounded very depressed with no affect. He tells me he wants to see me and all. He may not be ready to see me, cause he tells me he is ill. He also has told me he has trouble sleeping, and I think he needs help. I don't know that he's afraid to meet me. I am a nurse and he may be afraid I will notice stuff. I am not sure what it is. I know he needs some time to adjust. What should I do?

He is probably feeling the post-affects of being at war. Give him some time to adjust, but continue to be his friend. He needs a friend more than anything.
