Well, the cocktail party was a complete fizzer! Actually, the night itself was really fun, but as far as spending time with the guy ~ a complete and utter failure!!!
He got there a couple of hours late, then proceeded to drink only light beer. I got there early & was drinking lots & LOTS of cocktails ;o). So he was completely sober and I was....well....not!
He sat with a couple of his close friends and basically didn't circulate at all. I tried sitting in the circle of his group, but he was speaking very quietly to the lady next to him (wife of his best mate) & not to the whole group. So then I tried going & sitting right next to him & talking, but he wouldn't look at me at all, and although he replied to whatever I said, he really didn't seem interested in chatting. Fairly soon he got up and walked away.
Later on he was standing talking to another guy & I went & joined their conversation. See how brave I was!!! lol. Alcohol will do that for ya! Anyway, I asked him if he was sleeping over (a whole bunch of us were) and he said no because he was still sick from the flu and would rather be in his own bed. I said that was a shame. Then about half an hour later, he got his stuff together & went home.
The End.
:o(
Ps ~ I wonder if it would have been very different if he'd been drinking as well...might have gotten more conversation that way..and then again, maybe not!

Aaaaw Luce, I really thought something would have come of this!
You did REAL good though girlfriend! Brilliant, in fact! It doesn't matter if you needed a drink; you still put yourself out there & I don't reckon you came on too strong at all - sometimes you gotta push yourself to see how things might progress - he ought to at least have lightened up a tad :-)
All I can say is he's one strange guy... and a little bit ignorant not to even want to chat that much :-\
Oh well, at least you know now! I hope you're okay; it can be tough, especially when you plucked up the courage to try & start something.
Remember - there are plenty more fish in that darn sea & if this fish has a change of heart latter down the line, he'll show it & it'll be up to you how you react to it...
Thanks for the update, it's always nice to hear how things go - even when it doesn't work the way you want. It's all in His Plan ;-)
Cya 'round!

maybe he feels like you were coming on too strong because of the alcohol. I don't know what to say. Just feel proud of yourself that you were able to at least go up to him and talk, even if it didn't lead to anything more. Congrats.
