Hi! I'm planning to move to Virginia with my girlfriend in less than a year from now. Our original plan (Plan A) was to find a job here in our hometown (Puerto Rico), so we can get married and have a beautiful family, but are having tremendous difficulties getting a good job here, and our economic situation is just so bad that we decided it's time to move our relationship to the next level... and take the next flight out of here!!! My parents own a home and some land in VA, and we have some good opportunities waiting for us there, since we both have Master's degrees. Our big problem is that we just don't have the money for a wedding right now, and we both find it has no sense to stay here in Puerto Rico any longer (we don't want to lose our time here, when we know we have better things waiting for us in VA). My question is: How is the best way to tell her *conservative* parents that we love each other and we really want to be together... but we have no time to lose, nor money to spend, so there is no dream wedding; at least not now. It should be easy to tell them, since we are adults... but considering her parents are so traditional and conservative, I don't know what to expect from them, since we switched to Plan B (my girlfriend and I living together some time, then getting married), wich is the opposite from Plan A! We have a clear goal in mind, and we really want to get married... but how can I tell her parents without hurting their feelings, so they can understand?
Any advice??? Please!!!
Thanks!
Hector

I would suggest talking with your girlfriend about how is the best way to tell them. Whatever you do, you should do as a team and be prepared for a negative reaction. Even if her parents do not get upset, it is best to be prepared for the worst.
