Title: Site has gone downhill

By: starfox_04

About 3 years ago I found this site. It was a wonderful comunity full of people with legit problems seeking the advice of others, and there were many who were willing to help. Many of the ones giving advice were pretty damn good. One name that I remember is Enigma, I can't remember the others, but they were AWESOME. They gave great advice and tried to answer as many questions as they could.

However, there were some assholes (as there always are) who abused the site. They posted fake, sick, and generally retarded questions, such as "Help! I am sexually attracted to my dog!" Or "I'm in love with my cousin!" or other such nonesense. These idiots also posted advice like "#$(*@#$(# U, U LIKE TOTALLY SUCK, (#$*# OFF!"

Thank you, morons. You killed this site. You made whoever runs this site force us to sign up, so no one is anonymous anymore. (On a sidenote: I didn't notice any seriously bad abuse... maybe I wasn't looking in the right places, but generally the abuse I saw could either be ignored or you guys could delete it. Was that such a big deal, really? Was it worth killing the site over?)

I really think this is what killed the site. People were embarrassed to ask questions when they saw they had to sign up (nevermind that your profile is basically non-existant). Also, I can never remember my password for this site. It also takes time (even if its a very short amount of time) to sign up.

While it was a good idea and a great solution for keeping those losers from posting mindless babble, it also turned most of the helpful people away as well.

I don't know if whoever runs this site reads our posts. If you do, this is my message to you. It may be too late to resurect the site, as most people were turned away 3 years ago. But isn't it worth a shot? If you don't believe that it is going downhill, I posted maybe 6 questions 3 years ago, each question was answered by 3 or more people. Take a look at the questions now, no one is answering them. The adults have left, there are too many whiny teenagers voicing high school drama on relationships that last maybe 2 weeks. They should be able to post, but what happened to the split adult and teen Q and A? Bring the split Q and A back, do away with this pointless signing up, and perhaps there is a little hope for this site.

Though I understand why the change was necessary, most people are turned off by having to register and wait for a password; this is an instant society. Conversely, people were also turned off by the juvenile responses and bickering. It's a no-win situation.

It's not the site it once was!

I used to post as Emma around the time Enigma was giving advice. I reckon, since Enigma got some abuse - people figured that I was her since the names are a little similar. But it didn't matter much to me; I was part of something which helped others :-)

I hung around for ages in fact, it was so good. There were others like Sam, Othello and Kev who were very proactive. Then we had this girl who started trouble, the sign up thing came in, the whole layout changed and here we are today. Every so often I check back just to see if anything's changed.

I agree with what you're saying about the adult / teen thing - it made the distinction between the "whiny" posts and the serious stuff. I never went near the Teen Q&A and now, it's all happening here and it puts people off.

Maybe, one day, things'll change and folks'll return but I wouldn't go holding your breath or anything :-(

It was nice talking with you though starfox! I hate it when I see that no one has replied ;-)
