Title: What's going on here?

For those of you who have read my previous postings, you have an idea of what is going on. However, for those of you who haven't, I'll explain a few things that are important.

You see I've liked this guy since we were Freshmen in high school. Now we are both going to be Seniors, but he tells me that he is moving to another state. I feel so incredibly sad. I always wanted us to be more than friends like boyfriend and girlfriend. Only recently did I learn that he would have considered it more if I had communicated more with him. The thing is he doesn't and hasn't really tried to speak with me very much and thus I don't understand how to start a conversation with him or what exactly he wants to talk about.

His birthday party was two nights ago and I was the only person there who wasn't a member of his family. His dad had invited me (his father and I are pretty close and he knows about my feelings for his son). So I had dinner and celebrated his birthday with them, but like it would seem, I felt a tad bit out of place. He hardly spoke. I don't understand that, but I think he was having a fairly good time.

The confusing thing is he has recently taken on another job even though he continually indicates to me that he is leaving soon. I don't understand why he would accept another job knowing that he will soon be leaving unless he is playing with me to try to figure out if my feelings for him are real and how I would react. He is going on vacation to the place where he is supposedly moving in two weeks and by the time he gets back the summer will almost be over. He also brought up the information that he would like to apply for a scholarship only available to students in the state where he is now.

What's going on here? Is he just telling me these things so that he can see how I really feel. Has any guy or girl ever done something similar to any on you? Do you think I have a chance with this guy because I really like him and would do just about anything to be his girlfriend. Thanks in advance for any help!
