About Giving Gifts

If you see that it is something the person you loves needs or wants (but doesn't really ask for), then getting it for them without them asking shows that you are really paying attention to them. Pay attention to them and you will always find something to get them.

For men and for women, a book of love poems is always nice. even choosing one and handwriting it on nice paper is beautiful. Of course, this takes time, but any bookstore worker or librarian will help you out, and time is, after all, the thing that is the most extraordinary to spend.

When money is at its lowest and you want to give something to the other person, i will tell you what i have done that blew the recipients away: i cut out pictures from magazines of all the things i would have liked to have given, and i made a collage with the person's photo in the middle. again, it took time, but at the time, i had much more of that than of money. the collages are still hanging in the people's homes...

Toys are also good. not just teddy bears, but other toys, like bubbles to blow and things that are soft and that you can play with together.

Also, snail mail is okay--in the pile of bills, a card is nice--and again, if money is an object, buy bunches of them on sale or when you don't need them for when you will again. hope should spring eternal!

I always think that what i want to get is something i will use and see over and over again that will remind me of that special person,and anything will do. One of my best presents is the hairbrush i use all the time that my husband gave me and used to brush my hair with. he passed on 6 years ago, but i think of him whenever i use it...

If you cannot afford big presents, a lot of small ones are nice. wrap them
each separately and put them in a container the person will use. And a guy i used to date used to send me very special e-mails 2-3 times a day. i loved that. And if you cannot afford a diamond, a ruby, an emerald, or a sapphire or pearls, go to the store that has those little rocks--you know the ones i mean and i can't think of what they are called--but you can buy rose quartz, geodes, topaz, turquoise...unset, and be able to put them in a bowl or basket. they are very special!
